Indonesian University Delegation Visits NCUE to Explore Academic Collaboration
To enhance talent cultivation cooperation with New Southbound countries, the International Office of NCUE recently hosted a visit by representatives from 15 Indonesian universities and academic institutions. The 21-member delegation, which included university presidents, administrators, and professors from several top Indonesian universities and NCUE’s partner schools, met with the Deans of the Colleges of Science and Engineering and visited a local enterprise arranged by the International Office. The visit aimed to foster mutual understanding and explore future collaboration in areas such as student exchange, faculty development, and the recruitment of Indonesian students to study and work in Taiwan.
In recent years, NCUE has continued to deepen academic collaboration with Indonesia. This visit follows two major initiatives in the second half of 2025: the co-organization of a Chinese Language Camp with Diponegoro University (UNDIP) during the summer, and visits to more than ten Indonesian institutions by Dr. Hon-Man Lee, Dean of the International Office, together with Dr. Chi-Yen Huang, Dean of the College of Science.
The delegation was received by Dean Hon-Man Lee, Dean Chi-Yen Huang, Dean Yongling Lai of the College of Engineering, and Sally Chang, Head of the International Affairs Division at the International Office. Two Indonesian alumni of NCUE’s international master’s programs, who are now working in Taiwan, also joined the meeting and shared their experiences. Having recently returned from his fifth visit to Indonesia, Dean Lee noted that his main goal was to promote NCUE’s educational brand, enhance local awareness of the university’s strengths, and encourage more Indonesian students to pursue studies and career development in Taiwan.
Dean Lee emphasized that with the government offering scholarships and employment counseling to encourage foreign students to study and work in Taiwan—and given the strong demand for talent in Taiwan’s high-tech industries—NCUE has been actively promoting international master’s programs in the Colleges of Science and Engineering. These programs have achieved encouraging results in both recruitment and job placement. He also praised Indonesian students at NCUE for their outstanding performance, describing them as role models among international students, and expressed hope that more Indonesian students would choose to study at NCUE in the future.
During the meeting, the guests expressed great interest in deepening cooperation and held extensive discussions on topics such as participation in the TEEP internship program, opportunities for faculty members to pursue doctoral or postdoctoral research at NCUE, joint research projects, and dual-degree programs. Following the meeting, the International Office arranged a visit to Chin Fong Machine Industrial Co., Ltd., one of NCUE’s partner enterprises in its international student career support program. The visit offered the delegation a first-hand understanding of how NCUE assists international students in connecting with Taiwan’s industries.
In recent years, NCUE has actively strengthened its collaboration in talent cultivation with countries targeted by Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy. The University will continue to promote bilateral educational and cultural exchanges, enhance the visibility of the NCUE brand, and advance its internationalization efforts through sustained cooperation and innovation.
